- Holy Ornaments - NYCJL by Carolina Iwanow Exclusive Collective Jewelry Exhibition for NYCJW 2025 in person and online Collective Jewelry Exhibition, is inspired by the ancient union of textile techniques and precious metals—a tradition that spans cultures and centuries.
Across the world, artisans have woven, twisted, knotted, and embroidered with gold and silver to create jewelry, garments, sacred objects, and artifacts. This exhibition celebrates and honors that remarkable heritage.
Precious Metal textiles have been discovered all over the world bearing witness to a shared human story of craftsmanship.
Even the Bible recalls this tradition:
“And they beat the gold into thin plates and cut it into wires, to work it in the blue, and in the purple, and in the scarlet, and in the fine linen, with cunning work… Chains of pure gold, twisted like cords, were made for the breastpiece.”
—Exodus 39:1–15
